![]() ![]() If your joystick isn’t working, you can use Xpadder and simulate keypresses and mouse click combinations and movements using a gamepad to play your favorite games without any issues. Xpadder is also compatible with more than 98 percent of PC, tablet, mobile, or laptop games. Like Joy2Key, Xpadder also works with Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10, making it a great game emulator for playing PC games with a better experience. The software can handle sequences, triggers, combinations, toggles, shift sets, and multiple controllers. Xpadder is one of the best controller mapper software that allows you to map keyboard keys and use mouse button actions. I use it for things that require multiple key presses, such as launching countermeasures or moving power or shields about. In in the next patch there is a tutorial, which is looking very good, and takes you through the basics of flight and operating your ship. It's just the final touchdown that needs a bit of extra careĪfter flight controls, targeting is the next most important set of controls. I have forward and reverse strafe mapped to a scroll wheel on the throttle, so maneuvring back and forth over a landing pad isn't too hard. Yeah, the strafing is usually mapped to a hat somewhere on the stick, but unfortunately, this results in strafe being either on or off, which, in turn, results in either max thrust or zero thrust! This makes takeoff and landing a little tricky, to say the least.ĬIG are listening though, and I suspect that they may adapt the thrust setting depending upon the mode you're currently in, so that when in landing mode (the N key, I believe) the thrust is reduced to 50% or even 25% of max to allow a more controlled approach. Next part systems and shields, that should be fun, gulp! And you lose a lot of the enjoyment of seeing the game develop. ![]() I think the time to start playing is really now because if I can get things working anyone can. I jumped off the edge of the landing pad, panicked, so went back, all safe. It allowed me to enjoy the view a bit and fly around to test my piloting skills. I have to say, not getting too overwhelmed by mapping everything in one go is the way forward. I left the ship, did a bit of 3rd person view to check. I landed, the ship auto retracted when I got close, again pretty easy although the strafe up and down could be a little less sensitive to avoid writing off the ship but thumping into the landing pad. Had a little fly around, getting used to yaw on X is a challenge given my hours of play in Elite but its really quite smooth and they have for sure lowered the default sensitivity the joystick controls. I had 30 mins this morning, mapped the ship movement controls and the cockpit controls. Ok taking small steps, actually using the in game config screens is easier than it was before for me. Found this site in my travels with a nice tool for creating mappings and some nice ship config pages: But I don't mind adapting another decent profile to suit. I use CH Products gear, Joy, Throt and soon Pedals. Have you used any decent methods, tools, acquired custom profiles or configs that can easily be imported to the game for use by anyone? I'd rather be led than lead in this respect and want to just adapt my gameplay to the controls of someone who knows what they are actually doing as opposed to clueless like myself. I've found this which I think could help īut in reality I want a way to configure my controls and import someone else's nice settings. I have a bit of a barrier that I serious need to overcome.Įvery time I try and map my joystick to the game I end up with confusion, too many strange parts of my joystick and throttle doing things that in the end I forget almost immediately and when I finally get to grips with what I've mapped, CIG delete my controls at the next upgrade.
